Who is Dave Montana -
Dave was born on November 27th 1961,
Brought up in the north east of england his world was filled with the sounds of Jim Reeves, Marty Robbins and Johnny Cash.
Dave Montana returns to the forefront of the UK country music scene with his highly anticipated sophomore album, Big Montana Sky . A full year in the making, and a true labour of love, Big Montana Sky promises an exciting new collection of tunes, both true to the caliber of music that Montana fans have come to appreciate, and yet explorative of a new side of this talented artist not yet seen.
" Big Montana Sky is more about some of my own feelings than any other previous album, if that makes sense," says Dave Montana. "Going into the studio, I had a real vision of what I wanted this album to be. I've made sure to record songs that really spoke to me. Each lyric and melody says something to me or about me. I'll leave that up to the listener to decide which is which!"
Dave Montana burst onto the country music scene in 2001 with the release of his debut album After The Storm . Gaining the number 2 spot for the track Meanwhile Back At The Ranch and number 6 spot for the track Nickerjack in the European radio singles chart and number 6 in the album chart with After The Storm. He received the band of the year award at the Sundown Country Music Club in Devon in his first year of appearence there along with numerous other club awards.
Growing up in the north east the son of a merchant seaman Dave listened to a vast array of country music throughout his childhood. Many hours were spent with the sounds of the great legends of days gone by.
After several bands and more than the odd one or two projects during Dave's military days he settled into the world of country music " his first love ".
With the ever changing sounds of today Dave Montana has settled into the sounds that span the airwaves throughout the USA , he doesn't forget the songs of the greats but also understands the need for the music to move on if the scene is to live on.
Dave hopes to inspire the younger generation to understand that there was life in country music before Shania Twain, however he also wishes to educate the more mature fans of country muisc that there is life after Hank Williams .
Dave likes to quote :- " we cannot just live in the past we must look to and accept the future or there will be no new road to travel "
The release of Big Montana Sky is another exciting chapter in this artist's career - a career soaring to new heights with each passing year.
